Max Verstappen is a new breed of Formula 1 driver who apart from immense talent and raw speed, also lacks absolutely nothing when it comes to self confidence and belief in himself.
In what is no doubt a warning to his F1 rivals, the precocious Dutch teenager told Sports Bild ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix, “I still have a lot of potential. With every race, every year, I will just get better.”
“I may have a little bit of Schumacher in me, but my nature is more like that of Senna or Lewis. However hopefully I have the best of all three in me,” added the nineteen year old.
Verstappen currently enjoys a jovial relationship with Red Bull teammate Daniel Ricciardo, bringing back memories of Mark Webber and Sebastian before their massive fall out in Turkey back in 2010,
When asked if the relationship he has with the Australian can be sustained or if it will implode at some point, Verstappen insisted, “I am sure that this will not happen with us. It is all about trust. We proved it in Malaysia, we can battle just centimetres apart through each corner but we never cross that line. That will not change.”
As for the so called ‘Verstappen rule’ that has been imposed to stop aggressive on track defending, for which he has become famous, he is adamant, “I will not change my driving style.”
