Formula 1 teams have been permitted to film and upload short videos on their social media channels during the first week of testing, Autosport has learned.
Previously, the commercial rights holder has placed tight restrictions on broadcasting video filmed within the confines of the circuit.
New F1 owner Liberty Media is keen to exploit digital and social media.
It has emerged the teams were contacted by the commercial rights holder and informed they were permitted to shoot short-form video for use on their own social media channels.
Currently, the easing of the restrictions applies only for the first week of testing, which runs Monday to Thursday.
However, it is believed there will be further communication circulated with regards a clear set of content guidelines.
Lewis Hamilton said recently he is hoping new F1 owner Liberty Media will relax the rules on the use of social media by drivers at grands prix.
The reigning world champion has been an advocate of using social media to connect with fans and tweeted early on Monday afternoon: "I'm about to get on the car. Through practice I'll be live on Instagram from the cockpit to give you something new, so tune in."
Teams have uploaded a series of videos on Twitter over the course of the opening morning of the test, featuring cars leaving the garage, practice pitstops and short interviews.
