Granted GPI might not be for everyone who has an interest in F1, but for this who enjoy the concept it’s good news as we have managed to make future editions of GPI free to our readers and Formula 1 fans in general
From now on, a few days after a grand prix weekend, the GPI edition of that grand prix will be available free of charge on iPad through iTunes or on Joomag.
GPI Editor Paul Velasco explained, “We started Grand Prix International some years ago and it grew into a popular addition to our Grand Prix 247 website. Some editions attrcated up to 8,000 readers, but the weekly production schedule was not sustainable.”
“Nevertheless the bug to produce a grand prix weekend synopsis in a digital magazine format has always been there, and now the opportunity to re-launch the project has arisen and we have embraced the it.”
GPI digital magazine will feature photography supplied by teams, as well as quotes from drivers with a particular focus on the top three with the winner’s story and quotes highlighted.
“Most of the material in GPI can be found on our website in a variety of reports, but the digital magazine concept allows us to use the best quality photos effectively – teams and their photographers great images from each race weekend which do not get the exposure they deserve on conventional website reports. With GPI we can highlight the true art that is produced on grand prix weekends.”
“Sure you can always search your favourite F1 site for what happened at the (let’s say) 2016 Canadian Grand Prix and get a myriad of related articles, but with GPI you get straight to the salient points with excellent eye candy to boot.”
“GPI will strive to make every edition a ‘collectors’ item and along the way strive to establish partnerships with sponsors and advertisers, while building a solid core of F1 fans who appreciate this project,” added Velasco.
Since the relaunch, GPI have published eight editions so far this year – one for each grand prix held thus far and a special edition from the 2016 Monaco Grand Prix Historique.
Going forward, every grand prix will be given the GPI treatment, along with select special editions which will be produced in future focusing primarily on Formula 1 subjects, but on occasions deviating to include other areas of motorsport that warrant the GPI touch.
