After a decisive technical failure while he comfortably led the Malaysian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton regrouped and since then has notched up a third place and three wins in succession to keep himself in the title battle and taking the championship to the final race – a feat he is proud of.
Speaking ahead of the winner takes all weekend in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton said, “I am and will be proud of myself if I continue to perform as I am. I am proud of who has been a part of helping us win these races. What a year. To have nine wins is amazing”
“Brazil is my 31st win with the team, which is just crazy. I am just really thankful that these guys have given me such a great opportunity and I have capitalised on it.”
Four races ago Rosberg led the standings by 33 points, but now is only 12 points ahead of the reigning world champion as the season finale beckons.
“I’m hunting and all I can do is do what I’m doing right now. The team have been giving me a great car and finding the reliability has been really good, so the results are really showing that. I’m going to go and give it everything I’ve got. Abu Dhabi is generally a really good track for me,” added Hamilton who is targeting a tenth win of the season at Yas Marina Circuit.
