Sebastian Vettel headed up the timing sheets at the end of the third and final free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, as championship leader Nico Rosberg crashed heavily into the barriers.
Vettel’s best lap time of 1:07.098 was best of the session, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen who was just over a tenth of a second down on his Ferrari teammate.
With 20 minutes to go in the session, neither Mercedes had set a fast lap with the Pirelli ultra-soft tyres, and when Rosberg slammed the barriers in Turn 2, after what appeared to be a suspension collapse, the German was on a fast lap.
