Mercedes set the pace on the first day of the German Grand Prix weekend, with Nico Rosberg ending the day fastest of all, four tenths faster than title rival and teammate Lewis Hamilton second best.

Rosberg’s best lap time of 1:15.614 was good enough for top spot on the timing screens at the end FP2, matching his performance in the morning session in which he also topped the timing sheets.

Behind Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel found some extra pace in the Ferrari and ended third quickest in the ninety minutes session, followed by the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo in fourth and fifth respectively.

Kimi Raikkonen was sixth in the other Ferrari.
