Daniel Ricciardo gave Red Bull reason to smile after topping the timing screens at the end of the first free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, on a slippery track that claimed a number victims.
Ricciardo’s best time of 1:18.486 in the RB13, featuring a raft of upgrades, was a tad under a quarter of a second up on Kimi Raikkonen in the Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton was third fastest in the Mercedes three tenths down on the top time, with Max Verstappen in the other Red Bull half a second off his teammate’s top time.
