Amid revelations by Toto Wolff claiming Nico Rosberg was the “vicious one” within the Mercedes team in recent years, the retired 2016 Formula 1 World Champion has laughed off the comments as he focuses on raising for disabled children.
Last week Wolff suggested to Daily Mail that Rosberg was the villain in the battle with Lewis Hamilton during the three years that the pair were teammates at Mercedes. Report here>>>
But Rosberg scoffed at the idea when speaking to DPA, “I know what Toto thinks about me, so I do not care what an English newspaper writes.”
The 2016 Formula 1 World Champion, who retired from the sport last year five days after claiming the title at the season finale in Abu Dhabi, has also been subject to jibes from Hamilton during the course of this season.
The Briton claiming, on a number of occasions, that he relishes battling with top driver like Sebastian Vettel more than his battles with Rosberg.
Hamilton said after the Bahrain Grand Prix duel with the Ferrari driver earlier this year, “The scenario I’m in right now – fighting against a four-time world champion – the ultimate fighter always wants to go up against the best battle that he can have. Because then when you come out on top, it’s just so much more satisfying.”
Rosberg said of the barbs directed at him by Hamilton, “From time to time I read what’s going on through the internet and I find the comments funny. It does not affect me anymore. I won my battle.”
Rosberg has been involved in several welfare projects and he said proudly of his most recent venture, “On Tuesday, we raised a total of 600,000 euros for blind children at a charity…”
