Shirt sleeve confirms Castrol deal for Mclaren

Stoffel Vandoorne, Castrol shirt, BP

The shirt sleeve of Stoffel Vandoorne has inadvertently revealed that Castrol, part of the BP group, is on board with McLaren for 2017.

Vandoorne is shown drawing a circuit on a sheet of paper during a function, wearing a team shirt with the Castrol logo showing clearly.

A deal with BP has been expected after the team’s long standing partnership with Mobil came to an end, the oil company opting to move their backing to Red Bull.

But no official announcement to confirm the deal has been made as yet by either McLaren or BP and is for now another of 2017 preseason’s ‘best kept secrets.’

With the departure of Ron Dennis from the helm of the team and a new management ethos being infused at Woking under PR-savvy Zak Brown, McLaren are also expected to show off an all new livery at their car launch on 24 February.
