GP2 ace Antonio Giovinazzi gets Ferrari Formula 1 simulator run

MyF1World

Ferrari has given GP2 title contender Antonio Giovinazzi his first taste of a Formula 1 simulator at its base in Maranello.

Autosport understands Ferrari is not considering a full-time programme for the 22-year-old Italian, but gave him the chance as it recognized his talent and wanted to evaluate his performance.

"It was a very enjoyable experience and I want to thank Ferrari for this opportunity," said Giovinazzi.

"However, now it's straight back to concentrating on my GP2 programme for the rest of the season."

Prema Racing driver Giovinazzi won GP2's feature race on home soil at Monza on Saturday to close the gap to Red Bull-backed championship leader Pierre Gasly to 10 points.
