Ferrari team chief Maruizio Arrivabene agreed with his president Sergio Marchionne that the fabled Italian team failed to attain the targets set out at the start of the season.

Marchionne, and other Ferrari gentry, made an appearance at the team’s home Italian Grand Prix where he told reporters that targets were missed, but at the same time believed in the new staffing structure being put in place at Maranello.

Arrivabene agreed with his boss, “Of course, we did not match our targets this year. But I think one month ago we took some action and now since the last few races it’s a bit better.”

“The atmosphere within the team is very positive, everybody is moving forward race after race this year and also next year. So the atmosphere in the team is very good, everyone is looking in the same direction.”

The departure of James Allison from the team in July prompted the Italian team to appoint Mattia Binotto as Chief Technical Officer and he has been given a blank canvas to restructure the team’s revival and lay down a road map for the future.

Arrivabene believes the plan has full support of Marchionne, “He said the structure is solid, we have enough people in Ferrari to be able to work in a good direction.”

“I think he’s not happy about the results this season, but he also wants to see something recently that we’ve moved forward,” added Arrivabene.
