Speaking on a Tv show pop star Robbie Williams has revealed that he does not like Formula 1 and has no idea who Max Verstappen is.
Williams is travelling the world promoting his new album The Heavy Entertainment Show, popping up on popular Dutch chat show RLT Late Night with host Humberto Tan.
During the show Tan asks Williams, “You do like Formula 1!”
“No I don’t,” he replied. “Who’s been informing you? I don’t watch it.”
“Unless you’ve got somebody who’s a Formula 1 driver that’s gonna say hello to me in a message, in which case – I love Formula 1!” said Williams.
At which point Tan cues up a segment in which 19-year-old Dutch Formula 1 sensation Max Verstappen invites Williams to watch a race with him.
“I’m pretty sure he will like it, so I think it would be cool if he could join us in a race,” Verstappen says in the segment.
Back in the studio, Williams says to Tan, “I”m sure he’s a lovely man but I don’t know who he is!”
Tan replied, “That’s Max Verstappen our best Formula 1 driver.”
“Well good luck to him and good luck to Holland,” exclaimed Williams.
But said later, “Since he has asked me so kindly of course I am going to turn up and watch cars go around the track.”
“Nothing I would like to do more,” he added with a snigger. “I don’t hate. I give him a thumbs up…”
Almost half a million people have seen the clip since it was posted online.
In 2000 Williams released Supreme a song which. in the music video version, featured footage of Formula 1 in the seventies with himself as a driver based on Jackie Stewart.
